I Bungled Chicken Lazone

Published on 2024-9-13

I have a handful of “break glass in case of emergency” recipes if I’m completely spent at the end of the day that are ridiculously simple to put together, have just a few ingredients, and take 20 minutes or less.

One of these is this chicken lazone recipe: https://www.plainchicken.com/chicken-lazone/

Last week I made chicken lazone, but I failed to obtain the heavy cream when I put together our grocery order. Thinking I could sub milk (we have lots of milk because our kids love to drink it!) I swapped in 1% milk, 1:1.

It was an absolute disaster, just a few steps away from simply using water. It tasted gross and the milk even made the dish less visually appealing.

Knowing this would blow up in my face needed just a quick google, but if I’m in a “break glass in case of emergency” state I’m not going to have the juice to go to the grocery store for a carton of cream anyway.

So don’t be like me! Get the cream, and make sure you have redundant emergency recipes queued up.

Or just go get chicken tendies and french fries at your local greasy spoon.
